General Plan 2030 - Public Review Draft - Now Available on the Web
In
California, General Plans serve as the "Constitution" for all future
development in cities. The General Plan provides the fundamental basis
for the City's land use and development policy, and represents the
basic community values, ideals and aspirations to govern a shared
environment over the life of the General Plan.
The
General Plan addresses all aspects of development including land use,
environmental management and sustainability, traffic and circulation,
housing, parks and recreation, and other topics. The General Plan’s
policies are implemented through the Municipal Code, which includes the
Zoning Code, Building and Construction Code, Subdivision Ordinance and
other City regulations.
The Planning Commission now has one (1) vacant seat due to the expired term of one commissioner. If you are a resident of the City of San Carlos and interested in serving on the City’s Planning Commission, applications are being accepted at this time and are due by Monday, July 6, 2009 at 5 p.m.
Grand Boulevard Initiative: Improving El Camino Real
The Grand Boulevard Initiative (GBI) is a collaboration of 19 cities, the counties of San Mateo and Santa Clara, local and regional agencies, private business, labor and environmental organizations united to improve the performance, safety and aesthetics of El Camino Real (State Highway 82) on the Peninsula from Daly City to downtown San Jose.
San Carlos has been a leader by adopting planning documents and making improvements to the corridor that helped define the model for the Grand Boulevard Guiding Principles. San Carlos examples are included in:
These closures are necessary to enable Cal Water to replace aging water mains in this area on Phelps Road, Arundel Road Palm Avenue, Spring Valley Way and the 400-500 blocks of Hillcrest Road. The project will improve water service in these areas in San Carlos upon completion.
