The City of San Carlos Arts and Culture Commission has selected Donna Avanzino, of San Carlos Children’s Theater, to receive the 2013 San Carlos Arts and Culture Achievement Award.  This award recognizes a person’s achievements in promoting and enhancing artistic and cultural contributions within the City.  The Arts and Culture Commission is proud to recognize Donna Avanzino’s significant contributions to the arts including:

·         Serving as the San Carlos Children’s Theater Manager for over 12 years;

·         Forming a partnership with the San Carlos School District that provides a home for San Carlos Children’s Theater productions at Central Middle School;

·         Designing and painting sets for Theater and other community shows;

·         Volunteering her time with other community groups in the area, including the Kiwanis and Chicken’s Ball shows.

The award will be presented to Donna Avanzino at the Volunteer Recognition Dinner May 3.

Background Information

The City of San Carlos Arts and Culture Commission hosts the annual Arts and Culture Achievement Award to honor special people who are actively involved in promoting and enhancing artistic and cultural contributions within the City of San Carlos.  

Past recipients of the San Carlos Arts and Culture Award include Dulcie Morrison (2000) for her work promoting children’s art, Monica Mclean Anderson for her work with the San Carlos Children’s Theater and Sadie Conboy for her work with the San Carlos Museum of History. Our most recent recipients include Patrick Leeper for his dedication and stewardship of San Carlos artists and public art (2008), Devon Ruehle for her support and vision in revamping the San Carlos History Museum (2009) and Tom Davids in 2010 for his many years of contributions in the San Carlos community.
