San Carlos Civics Academy (formerly Citizens Academy) is a free, six-week program which seeks to engage the community, foster civic leadership, and improve San Carlans’ understanding of the functions and responsibilities of local government.
Civics Academy is a unique way for community members to become more involved and informed citizens. Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Learn how the City makes decisions and tackles challenges by listening to presentations, analyzing case studies, and participating in interactive activities.
- Understand the City’s revenues, expenditures, and budget structure.
- Meet City leaders, department directors, and staff.
- Build relationships with neighbors and community members.
