Horizon Light

637928934158430000“Horizon Light” is the vibrant mural on the side of the Crepe Stop building facing Bianchini’s Market parking lot on Laurel Street.  The mural was created by artist Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya and painted by community members.  The ribbon cutting ceremony was held on August 14, 2021.  The mural finds parallels between the sparse luminous matter astrophysicists use to detect black holes with the work that women do in revealing hidden truths about our world. The mural draws from the scientific research of Dr. Chung-Pei Ma, an astrophysicist based at the University of California Berkeley.

Love More

637928946469470000“Love More” is the outdoor environmental advocacy mural at 1379 Old County Road, the AST Fabrics building, in the Industrial Arts District in San Carlos.  The mural was designed by Design Tech High School seniors Lauren Wu and Annie Phillips, together known as “Splash of Color.”  The mural has transformed the blank wall with “a burst of springtime color” featuring native wildlife.  Once again, the community helped paint the mural.  The mural features the native plants of San Carlos:  miniature lupine, California poppy, tidy tips, blue-eyed grass, as well as the Bay Checkerspot Butterfly.  The ribbon cutting ceremony was held on June 1, 2022.

 ~Blossoms~ International Friendship
